Chapter 2.
Stable or unstable – the diapering of websites. Differences between expert and non-expert. Crafting questions: short, specific and clear.
French publishing house Charlie Hebdo crossed the admissible/ acceptable line between “freedom of speech” and intolerance producing its provocative cartoons on prophet Mohamed (Gottfried and Barthel par.1). This caused the unstable situation in Paris and put Charlie Hebdo employees in danger as protesters rose up against the publishing house. Charlie Hebdo representatives claimed it to be an act of freedom of speech, but on behalf of Muslims It seemed as a perceived act of religious intolerance (Gottfried and Barthel par.1). Media reports also showed that people protested in other areas including Saudi Arabia, Niger, the Russian federation (Chechyna), Pakistan, Algeria, and Iran. Presently, Saudi – Arabian based organization of the Islamic Corperation insists on suing the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. Russian-French author, Limonov, demanded that the French government shuts down the publishing house in order to avoid further political and religious problems caused by Charlie Hebdo (Gottfried and Barthel par.2)
15th of March
The Charlie Hebso publishing house should be closed down and disallowed to publish any magazine. Their action was an insult to the Muslim religion, and the public should understand this and stop buying their magazines (Penketh and Weaver par.3). People claim that the second edition was to show prophet Mohamed’s sad reaction and it was not another religious insult. However, I think it was still in bad taste especially because they put a picture of prophet Mohamed on the front cover. I think Muslims should be judged as terrorists following what the Algerians did because the majority of them have tried to be civil about this matter (Penketh and Weaver par.3). Media houses should ensure they respect the beliefs of all religions.
