The health insurance market in the United States has led to a crisis in human rights as it deprives a great number of individuals of the healthcare they need. Over 50 million individuals do not have a health insurance. What is greatly depressing is the number of deaths that could have been prevented annually, merely because of the way healthcare in the United States is organized. This problem continues notwithstanding the resources available to protect the people’s right to health, document levels of spending in healthcare, and repeated efforts for health reform. Income, race, and environment are a social determinant that strongly impact who becomes sick and who obtains admission to quality care, the healthcare problem disproportionately impacts the underserved and the disadvantaged groups, including individuals in poverty, immigrants, and people of color. Yet barriers to healthcare, the issue with medical debt, and the lack of healthcare providers affect people, especially those whose insurance is sponsored by their employers.

This paper assesses the case of the United Healthcare in meeting the health needs of people in the United States.
