The DASH diet was designed to assist diabetic patients manage their blood sugar levels without the involvement of medication (Dudek, 2009). The diet is primarily based on the intake of fruits, small amounts of fats and vegetables that strictly focus on the sodium content consumption. It also consists of lean meat and high fiber substances that help in moderating fat intake. TLC diet is designed for lowering cholesterol intake in the body and not for reducing the body weight. It is favored when one wants to maintain a weight considered ideal for them. Being a non-diabetic individual, I tend not to worry much about the sodium intake in my diet though I partially observe that. My greatest concern is on weight with my primary focus being the maintenance of an appropriate weight.
Over the past few months, I have paid more attention to the amount of calories I take in my diet. With the risk of contracting heart dieses in mind, I had to change my lifestyle and adopt a more healthy eating behavior (Bowling, 2014). That was possible through designing an eating timetable where I take heavy meals in the morning. The food intake reduces as the day progresses with the least heavy meals being taken at night since my body is less active when I sleep. My diet is a TLC diet, and I have managed to maintain an appropriate and stable weight as I desired.
The goal I have already met is on keeping my body weight in check though the greatest challenge that I face is on junk food (Behan, 2006). Spontaneous intake of junk foods has had an adverse impact on my progress of keeping my weight in check. It has occasionally led to weight gain though I keep struggling to maintain the desired weight. Other people can follow similar procedure and diet and succeed in maintaining their desired weight. For them to achieve this, they must be disciplined and avoid spontaneous intake of junk food. They must also come up with a timetable that will enable them develop a healthy eating culture which will see them succeed in keeping their desired body weight.
