Family Dynamic Essay
The birth of a child is always the exciting event for parents-to-be, in spite of fact, whether they have children or not. Although, as a rule, the birth of first-born affects new parents the most. It can be easily proved by several arguments which become inevitable for nearly every couple of parents or partners. First of all, the world of new parents changes completely and irreversibly: newborns need the constant nursing, because they are fully dependent on those who take care of them. Now, new parents are responsible for a new person and also for his/her safety, health and wellbeing which mean anxiety and are hard work. Not only new parents go through sleepless nights and permanent uneasiness for baby’s health and state; all this is also referred to experienced parents.
Baby-minding was and is thought to be women’s business; mostly, such perception is stereotypical one. Despite the development of modern society and the growing role of women participating in it, the birth of a child affects mothers considerably more than fathers. It means that, very often, mothers can combine their jobs and every aspect which is connected with a baby. The majority of fathers tends to realize themselves parents when a child starts to walk and speak.
The birth of a new member of a family can become something unexplored not only for parents, but also for siblings of new-born. Even if siblings impatiently wait for one more brother or sister, it doesn’t mean they will then behave ideally towards new member of a family. Most often, siblings of younger age begin to be jealous of a baby. Such behavior is not strange, because parents give more attention to new-born. The lack of attention to other children in a family is one of the main reasons of contradictions between siblings in future.
Speaking about babies themselves, of course, childbirth is a difficult process not only for women in childbirth, but also for babies themselves. Babies are totally defenseless and are dependent on their parents. So, the more willing attention a baby gets, the more satisfied responses she will give.
