Free A Traumatic Episode That Impacted My Life And Behavior Essay Example
We take our lives for granted with so much of expectations not thinking about our existence. Each day we carry out our responsibilities as a routine. We are busy planning for the future and adding to our comforts. Reality is that we do not know how long we will live. I was also living a happy life until I experienced the most traumatic incident. It was the death of my cousin.
My cousin was very close to me and many times he was my only companion. I enjoyed going around with him. I could tell him all my problems as he was very concerned. He was older to me and behaved like an elder brother. One day as he was returning from his work he met with an accident on the road .He was critical and was admitted in the hospital. When I came to know about it I rushed to see him. He had a head injury and the doctors said he will not survive. He died the next day .It was very painful to see him die. He had so many unfulfilled ambitions in life and his family could not bear the loss. He was fun-loving and helpful. We had planned many things for the weekend. His birthday was coming and I was planning for a big surprise. I had secretly invited all his friends. We had all planned for an outing to his most favorite place. I was not able to accept the fact that he will not be with me anymore. I was totally shocked as I never thought that things like this would ever happen to the person I loved dearly. For many days i didn’t do anything. I could not get over the loss of my cousin. I lost interest in all that we did together like going for walks, cycling etc. All that I wanted was to be left alone. I could not focus on anything. I could not eat also. I was losing my health. Everything that I saw made me think of him. I became so withdrawn and my family had a difficult time to make me overcome my situation. I had to undergo counseling sessions and was made to stay in other places. As time passed, slowly I could overcome my weakness. I learnt a lot of lessons with the death of my cousin. We should understand that our time is precious and god given. Now I don’t waste my time. I also help all those who are sick in the hospital by doing voluntary service. We started a charity service program in his name for accident patients. I realized that when we leave this world what we did is the memory that we leave behind. All the services that we have undertaken make me feel that his soul will rest in peace. His family also does a lot of service in his name.
My cousin used to always tell me to be confident and brave. Every time I thought about him these words would come to my mind. When the most valued person is no more in your life the emptiness is always felt. Though I was totally disturbed after a few years I felt I must value my life and also make my friends and family happy. I understood that each day was precious and should be grateful for all that we have. The loss of my cousin changed me and made me respect all that I had. I became supportive to his family and try to fill his place.
Many don’t realize the value of people around them .We never Know when we would lose a person. Make others feel that they are important to you. Each day is a gift from god and we must make all our friends and family understand that we should not take anything for granted.
