Apple Inc. implements various generic strategies in its operations. One of the generic strategies implemented by the Apple Inc. is the differentiation strategy. This strategy involves differentiating the product or servicing of a company from the competitors. The Apple Inc. implemented this strategy by producing and focusing on two market segments, the professional market and the consumer. Additionally, the differentiated products involved new features that enabled the company gain competitive advantage in the market. For instance, the company introduced the limited-feature iMac, the iPod and launched the iTunes. All these were in the form of differentiation. For the professionals, the company differentiated its products by producing computers that are tailored to meet the specific professional needs. For instance, the computers designed for the professionals have complex features and functions that meet their daily requirements.
The Apple Inc also implements the low cost provider strategy in its operations. After studying the Smartphone and computer markets, Apple identified the specific needs of the consumers and tailored designs that would meet these needs. They did so by designing the iMac computer and the iBook computer for the basic buyers of computers. The costs of these models are relatively low, hence affordable to the consumers.
Apple also implements the best cost provider strategy. This strategy enables the company to give the customers excellent products. For instance, incorporating the iPod digital music players, the iTunes websites for the download and sale of music in computers provided the Apple computer users value for money. The company also implements the broad differentiation strategy, which enables it to differentiate its servicing and products from the competitors.
Apple Inc also implements the focus strategy based on the costs. With this strategy, the company concentrates on narrow market segments by providing products of relatively low costs to the segments. The Company achieved this strategy by producing the iBook computers to serve customer sections.
Dealing with the issues
The Company produces quality products with various strategies such as the differentiation strategy to deal with the issues. Since the inception of the Apple Company in the computer and mobile phone industry, it has gained advantages that enable it to become its hallmark and handle the issues it faces. Since the end of the case, the Apple Inc. has established core competences that make it stand unique among other companies and organizations in the industry.
These competences, including strategies, quality products, effective human resource management and efficient customer relationship, have sustained the company through hectic industry changes over time. One of the elemental core competences of Apple is creativity. The company has developed agile and innovative ways of developing software and computers, which differentiate it from other companies in the industry. Additionally, it has made the Apple Inc. prosper among its competitors. The Apple Inc. has been able strategies effectively using these competences and is dealing with its challenges flexibly. The company was at the front of the revolution technology through the integration of music, animation and images. Such creativity has enabled the company to be at the front of industrial revolution, which makes it handle the issues of stiff competition effectively. For instance, its Konoclastic design made it hard for other competitors to emulate.
