Globalization
1. Answer the question below
In his article Daly states that “a “world with no boundaries” makes a sentiment song lyric, but community and policy cannot exist without boundaries.” This proves the fact that the further the world moves away from the national and international, and the closer it approaches the global in terms of labor movement, the less predictable and controlled the situation becomes. In the future the costs of underprivileged migrants would be borne by the whole world community. The increasing consumption in the USA with the population growth being low while the population of China and India continues to increase without proportional rise of consumption will lead to dramatic imbalances in the future. That is why I completely agree that capital, namely money, can be global and can move freely while labor must remain local. Otherwise the world will not be able to handle the distortions that may be created.
2. One short reply for each A and B
A. It is commonly known fact that receiving country benefits from the migration because they can pay less. But in the times of globalization the burden of costs will be borne by sending countries as well as by the receiving ones. That is why I agree that the migration itself in a few years may become a serious matter of concern.
B. We live in a world governed by big corporations the only aim of which is maximizing their profits. I agree that their activity across borders contributes to the national income of home country. However, at the same time it creates so many problems with labor competitiveness and demography that needs to be dealt with now. Social issues brought up by the immigration and outsource occupation may harm economy very dramatically in the future.
