McAfee Essay Example for You
Complete Name of Professor
McAfee introduces his speech with a very bold prediction that the world is going to expect more technologies and less people being put to labour. During the 1960s, jobs were primarily carried out by workers, especially during the pre-industrial era when human workforce was used to toil in vast lands of silk and cotton plantations. But as years passed, particularly following the advent of technology and industrial revolution, technology and machines were starting to replace the roles of people. And in the light of businesses pointing towards more production and profit opted to use machines rather than people. In effect, work has become less laborious while the number of jobs decreased. After hearing McAfee, I realized that the state of the economy and the availability of jobs in influenced by the technological innovations. Although the speaker already verbalized that the new machine age is going to be advantageous to the economy such that output would rise, prices will go down, and the volume and quality remains intact; and people will preclude the stress of drudgery and toil. One trend that I can really see is when industries are starting to put the labour to machines instead of people. It would definitely increase the competition for jobs and worker lay off is expected to take place as well, which will definitely put my career in jeopardy. One positive aspect of working the 21st century is that it would be less laborious, free from drudgery and toil, but it would also be detrimental to the working class, working people who will depend on jobs and salaries. It is also conflicting to the economy because machines will not be able to pay union dues and taxes.
