1. Determine the standards and concept to teach
The core standard for this DI plan is that all students must have the opportunity to learn and meet the same high standards if they are to access the knowledge and skills necessary in their post school lives (Common core Standards and differentiated Instruction, 2015). Therefore, the teacher must adjust instruction to accommodate a critical student learning difference. The concept taught in this plan relates to English Language Learners development of word usage proficiency.2. Indentify student needs with strong assessment tools before, during, and after learning.

Accuracy in pronunciation development according to Standard English American/English.

Utilization of appropriative vocabulary when communicating in English
Applying relevant vocabulary in developing complete sentences in English.
3. Find effective (evidence based) strategies and activities to teach the information

Expose students to multiple methods of language expression through group interaction

Design lessons applicable to student’s cultural orientation
Utilize student’s background knowledge in teaching word usage during instruction
Assess understanding of students who are reluctant to participate verbally in group interaction
Combine teacher talk with appropriate illustrations/charts
Vary voice /intonation during instruction to enhance understanding
Use dramatic expression during communication
Make eye to eye contact and speak slowly to facilitate comprehension
Vary group members during lesson instruction
Allow enough wait times for students to process in English and their native language
Be clear and concise always during teacher talk sessions
Point to visuals regularly during instruction using hand to indicate image/ word relationship
Let student get and move matching words with relevant action
Award students for responses and intentionally celebrate them throughout instruction.
Offer a variety of options to students when promoting responses to include oral, student boards, pictorial and concrete models as well as small group and pair share
4. Formulate lesson plans to link the targeted standards with individual need.

6. Discuss any special preparations or materials you have to make/gather ahead of time for your lesson
Special preparation will include development of models and seeking permission for students to visit the school environment shopping areas7. How will you engage students in activities employing their interest and ways they learn?
Learning will be related to students’ world by allowing them to freely access this aspect of their life through comparing the English and Spanish words usage and literal meanings in both languages.
9. Discuss how you will nurture the social and emotional aspects of students.
Nurturing social and emotional aspects of students will occur through health group interaction and appropriate play activities.10. Discuss how you will ignite each student’s desire to learn
The assignment could be adjusted to create more interest by getting students involved in designing a typical shopping area they love in a group activity and talk about them in a group presentation either in Spanish or limited English they know12. Discuss how you will entice and ignite lifelong learning!
This would be done by letting students know the importance of mastering English in the modern world view of language development.13. Explanation of how this may or may not differ from a differentiation lesson plan
