Free Enslavement Of Africans And The Dispossession Of Native Americans Essay Example
Enslavement of the Africans land by the British, Spanish, the Dutch and Portuguese was unavoidable. The argument for the above mentioned was due to available land, extractive industries and Mining sites On the contrary, others argued that the above could be avoided only if the human right groups were strong enough to prevent the enslavement of Africans and dispossession of Native Americans of their Land and Mining sites. The Atlantic World development greatly depended on the enslavement of Africans and dispossession of Native Americas by Europeans. The paper seeks to analyze the argument for the enslavement of Africans and dispossession of Native Americans by highlighting the economic, cultural, social and political development of English North American and the Atlantic World.
The contact between the Europe, Africa and America had an adverse implication for both the environmental and populace of the region. As a matter of fact, the cited negative effect impacted significantly on the death rate and population decline in the United States. For instance, the myriad plant and diseases that were planted from one continent to another led to high death rate and population decrease across the Continents involved. In Atlantic World, there was a high rate of negligence towards ethical consideration when it came to slaves. For example, in the Rule of Highland Plantation of 1838 where the plantation owner had the rights to cite that Slaves were at the mercy of their owner and had powers to control them. The above mentioned contributed to Social injustice among the slaves that were only viewed as free labor.
Slavery was a common phenomenon in the Atlantic World, and this aided in shaping the socio-cultural practices of the mentioned region. Due to many Africans who were slave, there was an emergence of African spiritual practices in the region. The above cited comprise of spiritual possession and traditional healing practices (Takaki, 75). Conversely, the Europeans greatly condemned such practices citing them as unacceptable and morally corrupt. For instance, the frequent practice of consulting Kilundu also known as the Angolan spirit was considered by then Portuguese as homosexual.
Economically, the Atlantic World was characterized by the emergence of Cotton Magnate and Cotton Kingdoms. Majority of persons who worked in the cited were majorly the Negro and Children of Slaves. Furthermore, the mentioned free and slave’s employees were paid at a rate of $75 per laborer as compared to the White peers from the North who was paid $ 116.The mentioned clearly indicate the kind of exploitation and discrimination that Slaves and Negros were passing through as the Cotton Kingdom owner were economically strengthening themselves
Politically, the British in controlling and governing the Atlantic World applied less centralized system. Additionally, the North America thirteen colonies created crucial home rule system and democratic self- government to monitor its territory. Notably, in the Atlantic World and the English North America only property owners were allowed to vote. Worth mentioning is that majority of free Men owned property thereby allowing majority of them to vote (Takaki 152).
