The Bible says that God told Abraham to give his only son as a sacrifice. Perhaps the reason was not that he was tempting Abraham, but because he was testing his faith in him. God is the giver of life, and he alone has a right to take it away. By instructing Abraham to give his son Isaac as a sacrifice, it means he had the authority to take his life. Initially, God had told him he was going to give him a great generation through his son. So it was not that God was going to allow it to happen, but wanted to test his faith in him. Abraham agreed to do sacrifice Isaac because he knew it was God who had dominion over everything under the son and thus had to obey him. If I were to be in Abraham’s place, I might not have agreed to sacrifice my only son, considering that he is the only child I have got. Abraham’s faith is clearly on another level.Question 2
The Ten Commandments are the ones that govern human life on earth. In as much as people live under the law of a country, much of what is contained in the law is drawn from Bible teachings. The Ten Commandments are the laws that govern how people should live in relation with God and to other human beings. The commandment that stands out for me is the sixth commandment which says “Do not kill” I t makes a lot of sense to me because all human beings are made in the image and likeness of God. If at all one kills another, then they will have killed God. God is omnipotent and omnipresent; we are his representatives of him on earth. If we kill each other, then we will be killing him. Even so, the commandments compare a lot to my moral code because I strive to do good and be good at all times. I try to live according to the moral conducts that society has set, and I believe all matters morality are shaped through the Bible and more so the ten commandments.
