I visited the coffee shop on my way to the university in the morning. As I entered, the soft ding of the wind chime above the door informed the staff of another visitor. I was welcomed with the warm and soothing scent of freshly brewed coffee. The sound of the TV channel was loud enough with the newscaster telling the customers that the day will be sunny and bright.
The coffee café is quite a hub of social activity in the mornings. Being located in the heart of the city, I noticed three different groups of people; the students, the office goers, and the people just in for a casual cup of their morning coffee. First were the students, similar to me, that were on their way to their respective educational institutions. They had their backpacks laid on the table or on the side chair. The students were usually huddled in small groups scattered across the café, deeply engrossed in their gossips and crash study meetings. I noticed that the students were also dressed more casually as compared to the people on their way to the office.
The second category of people, the office goers, usually had a laptop in front of them and was sitting alone in their booth or table. They always checked their BlackBerry for the latest change in the stock market or what email they have received. These people were dressed formally and had chic briefcases or bags. The third and final category of customers I noticed this morning were people just in for a fresh cup of coffee and a grab at the morning newspaper. This group was the most relaxed and was enjoying their coffee the most. This group did not have a time constraint. There was a soft hum of quiet chatter around the whole café.
As I sat in the small yet favorite coffee shop, I looked towards the counter. On one side was a display counter with a variety of freshly made goods like bagels, pastries, donuts, and sandwiches, etc. The colorful assortment food was welcoming. The steam from the coffee machine let out a sweet and refreshing scent of freshly ground coffee beans. The large chalkboard above the kitchen counter listed the items currently available. I could not help noticing the different number of coffee types that the café had to offer. There was a soft cling clang of all the utensils and being used. The interior of the restaurant was rustic and casual. There were booths, sofas, and wooden tables to sit on. Wooden tables and bricked walls reminded me of simpler times. However, the sofas and the center tables provided for a more casual seating. The walls had pictures of famous motivational quotes in bright and bold colors.
