Evaluating Training Program
Training programs are based of necessities, and invariably, organizations base their training program based on evaluations of a number of issues. However, the most important aspect of a training program is to understand how effective the program is in delivering the objective. It would be futile to introduce a training program that has been widely acclaimed to be a successful one if it does not have the impact necessary to deliver the desired result. Therefore, when evaluating a training program, it must be done by understanding how trainees react to the program. If trainees are not able to pick up the nuance of what is being taught to them, what good would it do to continue with it runs its full duration?
Any person will find multimedia-based training programs entertaining and as well as easily understandable. Multimedia has been used widely, and there are no industries that have not accepted the effectiveness of multimedia-based learning. Multimedia-based training programs provide visual presentations that do not need verbal explanations to teach learners, and so, when a program that is not delivering the desired results and has trainees literally scratching their heads in confusion, it is advisable to introduce training programs based on multimedia presentations. Besides, “multimedia training programs cost lesser, can be understood in lesser time, and are available just-in-time” (Costanzo, 1996). Before introducing any training program, the first and foremost objective would be to understand why a training program is necessary. This would require an assessment, and the assessment would come by asking questions. Therefore, by asking employees or their supervisors as to why they (employees0 are having problems in achieving the organizational objective, managers would be able to understand the exact need. Once this information is available, it becomes easy to understand what the training program should target. As not all employees are alike, there is the possibility of planning a standard training program for them based on the assessment. Therefore, one medium of instruction that all employees, irrespective of their language or knowledge can easily follow and understand is the use of visuals. Therefore, when employees react differently to training programs, it is best to turn to multimedia-based training programs.
