Tourism and hospitality industry includes catering, accommodation services, recreational services and travel. These segments are historically viewed as fragments or even as separate branches of the economy. In recent decades, this area has experienced unprecedented growth, and this surge can be regarded as an exceptional opportunity for those involved in this industry. It is worth highlighting that this sphere offers a great deal of interesting job prospects.
It should be noted that the demand for managers with specialized training in the field of hospitality and tourism industry has significantly increased. In many ways, the tourism and hospitality have already formed area of activity, but the social and demographic changes suggest that the growth of this industry is not finished yet. Despite the positive side, a career in the management of hospitality and tourism is not suitable for everyone. This industry is focused on people and services. Students who see themselves as workers in this sector must truly love and be able to build relationships with others. Furthermore, motivated employees are to work on a flexible schedule, serving customers when they need it. Students should also consider the possibility of movement, often repeated, as many organizations are engaged in business activities in a geographically different location positions. Besides, managers are responsible for ensuring the correct and efficient operation of the company at any time, which means that they often work more than 40 hours a week. Despite the hard work, a career in the hospitality industry is valuable for those who are looking for an opportunity for professional growth, a position of responsibility, wage increases and a high level of moral satisfaction. Graduates often begin their careers with as trainee managers, assistant managers or supervisors.
Nowadays, tourism is a powerful global industry. Importance of tourism as a source of foreign exchange earnings and expansion of international contacts, is constantly growing. Experts point out that there is a clear link between the trends of tourism development and the general state of the economy in the country. Dynamics of travel is very sensitive to whether the economy is booming or in decline. In relation to the tourism industry there are such things as "visible and invisible trade", "visible and invisible exports and imports." Visible trade deals with exports and imports of goods and raw materials. Invisible trade is related to the import and export services. Invisible exports - is the proceeds of arriving foreign tourists, as well as from the sale of their tickets for domestic transportation and other services in the host country. Invisible country imports account for money spent by its citizens during a trip abroad. The difference between the total income of the country's export (visible and invisible) and total value of imports (visible and invisible) is called the balance of payments. The balance of payments can be positive or negative. All the nations in the world seek ways to increase revenues from tourism, making serious efforts to attract foreign tourists to the country.
Opportunities for advancement in the hospitality and tourism industry extend much further than management of the restaurant or another catering, hotel or accommodation businesses together with tourist firms. Usually there are plenty of opportunities for advancement among managerial and other corporate positions. The industry employs workers in the accounting department, marketing and sales department, finance department and human resource management.
