Finally, the discussion explains the lessons learned from the class.

The concepts learned through the readings include the holistic thinking and thoughtful design. The two concepts have been applied in addressing healthcare facilities development issues with consideration of all stakeholder's needs, as well as future needs. (Guenther & Vittori, 2008) In that view, the concepts are applicable and useful in workplace and career development as they guide how to address issues considering all factors that could affect or could be affected by a particular career or workplace decision. (Shohet, 2006)
How sustainable building practices inform thinking
The concepts applied in developing sustainable practices in healthcare facilities including the holistic and thoughtful considerations are applicable in other fields. In that respect, the concepts are crucial guides that inform planning in other fields that require enhancing efficiency and environments. That is because the need to address various stakeholders’ needs is necessary not only in healthcare but also in other fields. (Knutt, 2005)
Lessons from class
The study on sustainability in healthcare facilities design has been crucial in informing about the aspects that requires consideration. Although the term sustainability has different meanings, its application in healthcare entails considering four key steps the facilities design process that include future needs, whole life costing as well as therapeutic and innovation environments. (Rodarti, 2005)

In view of the discussion, the study on sustainable healthcare facilities design practices, it has been identified that some concepts that have been key in the development of healthcare designs are applicable to other fields. Thus, the study plays a crucial role in informing thinking and decision-making, and the concepts can be applied in the workplace and career-related decision-making. Finally, the lessons learned in class include the different aspects of sustainability including the cost and innovation aspects as well as the future needs.
