Conflicts are inevitable when it comes to working with groups. People will conflict over various issues that will be assigned to the groups. There also could be interpersonal and procedural conflicts. Before all these conflicts take place, it is good to have a strong management plan for these conflicts. This will help the group move forward a little faster because they will have a solution at hand in case a conflict arises (Curlee & Gordon, 2011).
In the management plan, there are some basic things that should first be addressed even before the group work begins. The first one is to have a procedure of all activities that will be taking place in the group. This will avoid procedural conflicts because there will be a procedure to follow where everybody will be entitled to follow. This procedure will be created and approved by the management. The second plan is confronting. This will come in after people are in a conflict and do not seem to come to an agreement. Both teams will be forced to explain the cause of their conflicts and after that the group leader will come up with a conclusion based on the argument (Curlee & Gordon, 2011). There are some conflicts where one of the team members will have to win, both ideas to be put into consideration or all ideas to be done away with so that the conflict can be resolved.
At times, working with groups can be difficult; this is why a management plan is important. It is good to deal with a conflict immediately. This will ensure that there will be group progress. If a conflict is not resolved immediately, the same issue will be discussed over and again. When new tasks are started, in one way, they will still lead behind to the older conflict. Incorporating these ideas together will form a good management plan that will try to solve conflicts in a group. It is not easy to deal with different people with different thoughts and perceptions. With this plan, conflicts will be avoided or resolved easily (Curlee & Gordon, 2011).
