Free Essay On Green Plane
The Green Plane is a model of plane that was discovered by South West Airlines. It resembles the Boeing 737-700 aircraft (Kelly, 2009). However, it is prided to be very environmentally friendly with increased comfort to the consumers. In addition, there is reduced cost of management of the aircraft which eventually results to cost reduction for the consumers (Kelly, 2009). The plane is made using internal materials that are environmentally friendly. With these materials in use, about 2.27kg is saved per every passenger seat. Additionally, there is comfort for the passengers during transit.
Wastes have also been reduced due to the fact that recyclable elements have been added to the cabin interior. The planes carpet is also recyclable hence it can be returned to the seller once its service life is over. Hence, the old carpet can be used as raw material to manufacture new carpet. This plane also has an e-leather that is scuff-resistant, lightweight and also eco-friendly (Kelly, 2009). In regard, to the Green Plane, two new seat covers are also to be tested on either side of the plane. The new seat covers are also twice durable compared to the current leather seats and lighter to the tune of 900g. This new plane is estimated to save about 36000 liters of fuel being 219kg lighter that the other planes.
With this model of plane, the South west airline will reduce the number of emissions into the environment (Kelly, 2009). It therefore cements the company’s position as the leading in terms of minimal emissions to the environment. Since the comfort of the passengers is also guaranteed and improved, this will increase the level of satisfaction of the passengers. Consequently demand will increase hence the returns for the business. Coupled with the reduction in fuel and other maintenance costs, the profit margin will widen hence increase in the shareholder value.
