Free Essay On Paradoxes In The Workplace
One of the main reasons why people are not happy in the workplace is that they end up fulfilling tasks that are not in their skill set and are not part of their vocational calling. Also, people end up feeling isolated in their department within the company and often feel alone as they try to complete their assignments. They also feel like they do not have time to complete other elements of their lives because of the demands placed on them at work.
One of the most creative employers when it comes to helping make the workplace smarter and more creative is Google. Their campus includes fitness facilities, laundry facilities and food available around the clock. That keeps employees from feeling fatigued or feeling rushed to do such tasks as washing and drying clothes – and heading to the gym. It keeps them focused on the job when they could be thinking about other things.
The “Grapple and Grow” element in the Cycle of Excellence is the most important for helping people overcome these paradoxes. Most people don’t take a job because they want an easy situation for the rest of their lives, but they do want to know that the company supports them as they complete challenges for the good of the organization. Support and encouragement from the company help the employees put their best effort in while continuing to feel refreshed (Hallowell 2011).
One important way to remove roadblocks to innovation is to create a corporate culture in which all stakeholders feel like their views are valuable to the company. When that element is present, stakeholders get both an emotional and a practical value from their time and energy that they contribute.
