There are numerous ways in which students can be evaluated in the classroom. These methods have been found to be very effective. Teachers employ these methods to gauge the performance of their students.
One of the ways in which teachers evaluate the performance of their student is through research papers. Research does not only test the knowledge that students have acquired in the course of their study but it also assessed their research and writing skills. These skills are held as very important in academics (Greenberg, 1987).
Another common way by which teachers test the progress of students in class is through examinations. Exams are usually scheduled at the end of the courses when the students have covered all that they are required to by the end of a particular learning session. Exams test what students have internalized from their classes and therefore can remember. Other than open book exams, most exams require students not to refer to any materials (Greenberg, 2000).
Some instructors also use progress tests. Progress tests are aimed at providing feedback on the student’s understanding of certain contents in the course of their study. Progress tests also provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate what they have learnt I class.
