Bullying in schools

Bullying is not a normal part of growing-how true is this? Is it because victims report fear and score lower on measures of academic achievements? Has the research been conducted to ascertain this? What kind of research and who conducted it? These questions have answers since bullying lowers the self-esteem of victims, and they turn their frustrations and anger inwards. This leads to depression, and if, not controlled, the victim commits suicide. Bullying is also associated with violence as witnessed by the cases in lethal school shootings in Jonesborough and Colorado.
Bullying does not only hurt its victims but the bullies themselves. Bullies fails to learn on how to handle their emotions and have proper communication skills that are significant for success in life. If they do not see a psychiatrist earlier, they may suffer from stunted emotional growth and lack empathy. They fail to have a genuine friendship since they are familiarized with pushing people around, and instead lay the blame on others hence failing to take responsibility for their actions. If they do not find a way of getting what they want, they may resort to criminal activities, abuse their spouses and have children who are aggressive thereby passing that character to the subsequent generation.

My younger brother, for you to successful in your studies and the real world, you need to practice these habits of the mind that I have enlisted so that you can have a healthy relationship with people around you. First and foremost, these habits incorporate the following dimensions: value, there is a need for value so as to employ a pattern of intellectual behaviors leading to inclination to this pattern of productive behaviors. Sensitivity is also vital for you to be able to perceive opportunities. Having observed these dimensions, you need to start practicing the following habits of the mind.
Think flexibly so that you can have the most control of the things that you are doing as you are still young and have the capacity to change your mind as you receive additional information. This will enable you to address a problem from a new angle thereby solving problems efficiently. Individuals with flexible minds understand means-ends-relationships and can survive within rules, regulations, and criteria as they can predict the penalties of breaking them. Strive for accuracy because a man who commits a mistake and does not correct it is committing another mistake. Take pride in your work and always desire for accuracy by taking time to check your work. Craftsmanship involves corrections, accuracy, faithfulness, and fidelity, an ability that you should possess. In college, some students are sloppy leading them to turn work that is incomplete and inaccurate, and they are willing to settle for minimum effort rather than investing in the maximum.
Learn to communicate with clarity and precision. It plays a vital role in enhancing the ability to think critically, which serves as a knowledge base for acting properly since thinking and language are tangled. Do not insult your peers or use vague language when answering your professor as this will generate hatred from the people around you. You should try to gather information through all senses as your brain is still young. An intelligent person knows that information gets into the brain through all the sensory pathways: visual and auditory. Try to be creative, imaginative, and innovative as the future is a place that we are creating but not going. Every individual has the capacity to come up with great ideas that can generate productive products and solutions. Lastly, you should be able to take responsible risks since risk takers have an uncontrollable urge to go past established limits as they are restless about the current comfort.
