1) Define leadership and shared leadership?
Leadership refers to the act of guiding, directing, controlling and supervising a group of people that have a common purpose. Leadership puts people with a common together for guiding and direction to help them succeed in it. On the other hand, shared leadership entails the distribution of leadership among teams within an organization such that people within a team guide, direct, control and supervise each other.
2) Describe the implicit leadership perspective?
Implicit leadership perspective provides that when one observe leaders while in given situations it play a role in enabling him or her to gain knowledge and skills of how he or she can handle similar situation if they come in his or her way. Thus implicit leadership is a source of leadership development through which leaders learn from given situations and use the knowledge and skills to apply in similar situations. It is a very effective tool in enhancing problem solving within an organization. In addition, it plays a great role towards enhancing leadership development with the organization.
3) Discuss culture and gender similarities and differences in leadership?
Culture refers to the behavior displayed by people within and organization. It involves values, beliefs and doctrines of the organizational members. On the other hand, gender refers to the characteristics displayed that pertain to and differentiate between masculinity and femininity within the organization. Both gender and culture in an organization affect group cohesion, access to resources and power, identity and interpersonal relationships. Both culture and gender focus more on beliefs and attitudes of the people within an organization. On the other hand, culture and gender in an organization may differ in that; culture is more concerned on the general behavior of individuals in an organization. However, gender focuses on the roles and characteristics of different sexes namely male and female.
