One of the reasons for success in leadership in any particular situation rests on the personality of the leader. According to Pierre, Hofinger and Buerschaper (2008), leaders need to possess certain qualities such as self-confidence, decisiveness, and high activity. These traits are significant in situations where deadlines and constraints such as finances are critical to the success and implementation of different projects and programs. According to Lussier and Achua (2015), leaders having high energy or high activity provide the necessary energy and drive to work through obstacles. Furthermore, such a high activity of subordinates makes them perform at high levels. Consequently, high activity makes leaders more determined and can be able to work consistently without giving up no matter the obstacles they face. It is all about the attitude they have in their work. Positive attitude ensures that they are highly engaged in their work.
Leadership behavior is also important for leaders to achieve success. Most of the behavior is determined by their emotions. The ability to leaders to stabilize and control their emotions ensures that other members of the team are able to be motivated in such a way that their worries are reduced (Pierre, Hofinger and Buerschaper, 2008). The leader needs to assure the members that they will attain their goals no matter the case. In case the leader shows weakness in terms of emotion, team members may lose faith in working for the leader and in most cases disharmony develops leading to poor performance and project failure.
Ethics is also important for successful leadership ethics can be fulfilled through honesty and integrity. According to Daft (2008), leaders who fail to show honesty in the work may encourage bad work practices. Ethics is part of the leadership behavior hence central to the success.
