According to the observation made, the boss is unhappy about the methods of leading the meetings; there are specific ways that are supposed to be followed while leading the meetings. The employees seem not to know about those procedures. These have brought the attention of the boss to organize for an in-house meeting for the purpose of enlightening the employees on how they are supposed to be leading the meetings in an effective manner.
We hope that after listening carefully on this seminar you will be able to understand how meetings are conducted in an effective manner. The meeting will be highlighting the following points:
Schedule the meeting
When scheduling the meeting, consider what to be covered and allocate te required time for the agendas. Consider who should attend and hence prepare the agendas well.
Set a time slot for the meeting
There should always be starting time and ending time in the meeting. Time gives the foundation for planning the rest of the meeting details.
Stick to the agenda
Never sidetrack to deal with other matters that are outside the agenda.
Set an ultimate goal for the meeting
When there is no a set target in any meeting, there is a possibility of dealing with many this that may result in confusion and boredom of the members present.
Focus on the positives in a meeting
Ensure a successful meeting by praising it in public and maybe criticizing it in private. If you criticize the meeting in public, the group will lose morale and hence cause rivalries and even competition that will lead to disagreement deeming the meeting unnecessary.
Avoid peer pressure
Peer pressure will cause dissonance to the leader because the decision could have been influenced by peer pressure.
Separate personal and business matters
The friendship and relationships should always be kept aside while in meetings. This will reduce favoritism and increase integrity in the meeting.
Remember that you are a leader and not a dictator
Participate and speak when appropriate. Always never override someone’s suggestions every time he or she speaks, they won’t open up their minds because of that. Allow everybody to be open and speak their minds and that way you qualify to be a leader and not a dictator.
