Kelly Blazek has double moral standards. She runs the only job bank for marketing professionals in Cleveland and claims that she helps young people to find a job. Kelly was named “Communicator of the Year” in 2013. However, there have been two reported incidents of her being rude to young people trying to network.
The story went viral when Diana Mekota published it on her Imgur account. Blazek was supposed to be supportive of young jobseekers, but instead she dismissed Diana’s email and Linkedin request as inappropriate and beneficial only to Diana. It is absurd that Kelly mentioned that Diana’s joining would be beneficial only to herself, when the online job bank was created for people like Diana. It was natural for her to try and connect with the marketing industry professionals prior to moving to Cleveland. This story was communicated effectively because Diana went public and brought the attention to the problems of young people. They are encouraged to connect on professional sites, but they can also get in touch with unhinged minds there. Mekota was not the only victim of Kelly. Rick Uldrick, who also spoke to CNN, said that Kelly removed him from her job base.
I feel that Kelly would have never apologized to anyone if her rude correspondence with these two young people hadn’t been exposed to the public. I agree with the assumptions upon which CNN based the information because they included experiences of all the participants of the incident.
