Question 1
The NCLEX-RN® or NCLEX-PN® exam is also known as the ‘State Boards exam’ or the ‘Boards exam’ mainly because it is administered by the nursing boards in the respective states with a view to ensuring that all individuals seeking to being practicing as nurses in that region are competently prepared to work by adhering to professionalism and patient safety standards (Kaplan Nursing, 2015). To the nurse educators, the NCLEX-RN® or NCLEX-PN® exam provides an avenue through which they can evaluate their delivery techniques and provide a chance for evaluating their nursing education methods to suit the needs of the society as guided by the performance of their students in the NCLEX-RN® or NCLEX-PN® exam (Grossbach & Kuncel, 2011). To the learners, the test is both a threat to their aspirations as well as a chance to prove their preparedness to deliver. It is a threat because failure to pass in this exam could hamper the learner’s dream. On the other hand, it is a chance to prove how well they are ready for the practical task ahead and assure their readiness for the areas of practice and scope they will have to deal with in their expected positions.
Question 2:
Learners across all sectors need several basics to enable them meet the expected requirements for a test. One of these is the detailed view of all aspects covered in the course or curriculum as well as how these aspects interconnect from one level to another. On the other hand, learners should be able to show the applicability of the learnt theory either practically on in explanation at least from basic point of view (Stuenkel, 2006). Similarly, it is also crucial tat learners are aware of the expected arrangement of questions and the general structure of the test to enable a psychological preparedness. Essentially, a blueprint for students especially from their instructor is one important item that students would find useful before going for test. I would thus commend the colleague for affording the students an opportunity to learn the outline and planning of the test in relation to the course material and their applicability (Morrison, Adamson, Nibert & Hsia, 2004).
