Death penalty is the punishment given by the legal authority to a convict. Death penalty is also known as capital punishment given to person who is found guilty of having committed a grave crime. There are different criteria for death penalty in different countries. Since ages death penalty has been opposed by on humanitarian grounds for ample number of reasons.
According to Amnesty International, May 2012, 141 countries abolished the death penalty either in law or in practice. Criminologists say that death penalty is not a deterrent to commit a crime. It could just end a precious life which could have been transformed into a constructive element of society. There have been times when people were convicted on false grounds and truth prevailed only after their death. Even studies show, there are likely less number of murder rates in non-death penalty states.
It is implausible to threaten a person in future, by death penalty, which does crime under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Death penalty is not the certification to impede the impulse of any act of crime. It sounds vague to punish a person who has done crime in a grip of fear or in an utter rage. Some crimes are inevitable and situational and which cannot be justified by a capital punishment. Rather, there are numerous ways to kill a criminal inside a human by not hanging him but by refining him.
The culture of death penalty has been proven futile in terms of curbing the crime from the society and it needs to be ruled because it is gruesome for many reasons and few of them are :-
Value of human life is beyond any judgement as every single being on earth is meant to live life. Every human being has right to live life.

Innocent people sometimes get into the trap of death penalty and lose precious life.

Besides being inhumane, death penalty is expensive. It costs more to hang a person than to imprison him for lifetime.

Almost every religion opposes death penalty as it has harsh consequence on society.

It not on brutalises the social fabric but strangulates the ethical thread justice.
Sometimes people are not responsible for the crime but they are subjected to gore of Death penalty which has bad impacts of culture and society. It further criminalises crime and degrades the law of Justice. It is awful to kill a person for committing a crime. It is against the law of nature which gives life and takes it too. Death penalty has no moral grounds as it deprives a person of his life and it doesn’t give a person another chance to rectify his or mistakes.
Above all, Death penalty doesn’t rehabilitate a guilty rather it seizes an opportunity to remorse and repents, to get back to society and start afresh and to express the guilt, what prompted him or her to commit the crime. Strictly speaking, death penalty has never been a panacea for curing the crime in society if it would have been case then there would have been the complete peace prevailing at present.
