I acknowledge the fact that most of the heath care professionals are still not providing quality care to all patients regardless of their racial or ethnic background. Such disparities in the health care add general disparities in the health status of such people. The health status of a person is subjective to health care system as well as social, genetic and environmental determinants.
The dilemma of ethnic and racial disparities concerning health care is underlined in a lot of statistics such as; the ratio of uninsured Hispanics is thirty four percent as compared with the thirteen percent for whites, the trend of visiting to a doctor is less in minority females due to the price factor, racial and ethnic patients receive thirty percent less Medicare for dementia medication (Crowley, 2010).
In order to alleviate these disparities, a comprehensive set of plan is required to address the dynamics influencing health care status. American College of Physicians is dedicated to make sure the access of quality services by a healthcare professional regardless of any influencing factor. It emphasizes the fact that with increasing and diversifying population, the system of health care should also be transformed in order to meet the needs of multicultural patients. It supports strategies to invest in healthcare, to form a diverse workforce, to deal with collective health determinants and to enhance studies investigating the reasons and concluding on solutions concerning ethnic and racial disparities towards health (Crowley, 2010).
Furthermore, the racial and ethnic background professionals should have given chance for the faculty members of the professional health care system. These efforts will make sure provision of quality oriented care to all types of patients regardless of their racial or ethnic background.
