The visit was to café house near our college campus. I visited Café Coffee day little late in the evening and almost at around the closing time. I sat at a corner table for two and ordered a cafe chino and cheese sandwich. The ambience was sombre and a light music was played in low volume. The sitting arrangements are wooden and Bakelite coasters with steel paper napkin holder. Light is dim and placed at corners within shades.
I could see one aged couple enjoying their light meal with coffee beside my table. They are speaking in light tone and made sure that their voice is kept low and only they can hear each other out. Well dressed and from the look of it seems they come regularly and are well versed with the ground rules of the café.
Language is very subtle with repeated words of “don’t worry” emphasised the mutual trust. Next to the elderly couple is a small family enjoying their evening out. Well attired and chirpy noise of children shows that they are a well knit family and must be enjoying a quick snack before going back. Next to the small family there are two young couples sitting in a group. Making occasional laughing noise and digging into their high snacks. From a distance I could make out that they work in some call center and are on their back home. The girls I believe are Annie and Sophia while the young men were Eric and Gustaf. I introduced myself to the elderly couple and came to know that the gentleman is Mr Ashton and his wife Maria.

Spoke gently and no unnecessary gestures
Almost everyone paid by cash except the small family who paid by card
Everyone paid tips to the serving attendant
No unnecessary wastage of paper napkins
The shared value that I could perceive is that all of them are aware of the ambience and are regulars and know the rules inside out. A person’s weakest moment is when he / she enjoy his / her favourite dish. From the look of the individual face I could see that they came to enjoy a good time with their close friends and family.
It was obvious from the ambience that everyone knew what they are supposed to follow while they spent their time in the café. This was evident as soon the young group made some unwanted noises the rest in the café looked at the direction with admonishing look, the Manager of the café politely reminded as well that there are others in the café.
Although there were no written norms on the table or at entrance but it was nice to see that no one smoked or carried anything from outside. This actually told a lot about the place. People respect the ambience and for obvious reason anyone who breaks the rule might get a stern look or a rebuke from other visitors and this definitely works out for anyone who wants a cool outing.
