Business Proposal
Technology is the use of knowledge and tools that solve problems, improve solutions, help achieve goals, and accomplish tasks. Nowadays, technology is innovating and continuing to advance every day. Everywhere we go; we are in contact with the technology and use it to make our lives easier and more efficient. As a college student, I am using technology more than ever. The most common technologies nowadays are cellphones, tablets, and most of all computers. With the Internet, the possibilities of accomplishing and doing things are endless. For college students, what we value the most are cell phones and of course laptops.
Practically the majority of college students own a laptop, which perhaps is the most expensive thing they own to aid them in learning. For this reason, laptops are valuable tools that will assist them in their coming years. However, laptops are quite expensive, and some may be out of their price range, especially for students attending Nova. The tuition is already expensive compared to other universities nearby. NSU should consider providing this less economic, but none the less helpful device to their students as an aid to compensate for the significant tuition expenses that are charged.
If NSU adopted this proposal, it would be among the top ranked Universities and colleges that embrace technology. To name a few, these educational institutions include Duke University, Stanford University, Rutgers University, and many more. They are many different kinds and brands of laptops. But to name a specific company that caters to this would be Lenovo and Toshiba. Currently, Lenovo has a program called the ThinkPad University partnership. It provides colleges with Lenovo ThinkPad laptops for college students with programs pre-installed like MS Office and many more.
NSU can partner up with these companies and make it possible for college students to receive a laptop when they are currently enrolled in the University. As mentioned earlier they can also help create financing programs if the cost is too much.
There are also few drawbacks to this proposal. The main issue involves the cost. Conversely, since the tuition is already high at NSU, about $24,000 on average minus fees, the cost should be able to cover this technological resource (Nova Southeastern University, 2015). But students can also use their financial aid towards getting a laptop too. The NSU library already offers the opportunity to rent a laptop. However, there is a time limit and can only be kept at the library. This can be a major inconvenience because students have a busy schedule that makes it hard for them to come to the library always.
Laptops price range from $200 to even $3000
The amount of undergraduate students NSU has currently is about 15,000
The total amount that it might cost NSU would be from $3,000,000 to $45,000,000
Cost analysis and delivery schedule
The NSU can enter into the partnership with the Lenovo and Toshiba companies in order to leap discounts that go up to 25 percent. Through this partnership, the University is anticipated to improve the application and data management among the students in the most cost-effective ways. Although, Lenovo partnership is widely known for the K-12 public institution, the university can negotiate the deal to acquire the partner program for the higher education. The benefits of such programs are as explained below.

Partnering with the Lenovo and Toshiba companies provides the university with a chance to boost technological advancement among the student at relatively low prices. In addition, Lenovo partners with the webNETWORK to help the students overcome the limitations resulting from the digital learning environment. The partnership enables the student to access 100 percent browser-based IT services and all private, public, and local digital resources. In addition, all the laptops have 12 months warranty and, therefore, provide the students with efficient services that need low maintenance cost. The companies guarantee reliability by maximizing productivity and reducing downtime. They also offer free customer services across the states of the United States. All the computers can be delivered after two days of the contract between the companies and the University.
