Free Research Proposal On Do Women Have The Right To Abortion?

I want to delve deep into the subject of abortion, why it is a controversial issue in the society and various considerations to be taken into account when arguing for and against this topic. The main purpose of this paper is to find out whether women have the right to have abortions or not. Do they have a right to choose what to do with their bodies? Under what circumstances abortion should be deemed necessary? And on what grounds should one decide to carry out an abortion. Abortion is described as the ending or terminating a pregnancy by removing or forcing out the fetus from the womb in order to not result in birth. Abortion has always been a thorny issue both in the legal circles as well as in the moral and health circles.
I decided to gather information from medical experts who have extensive knowledge about this topic and who have handled quite a number of abortion cases in order to get clear insight about this matter. I would like to find out on what grounds people have abortions and how often do they handle such cases. Books and journals about this topic will also be helpful in understanding this subject and how different people view this matter. Carrying out interview with these practitioners is the best way to gather this information because they will give me a first-hand account. Seeking information from the clergy and church ministers will also provide crucial material about the stance that the church takes on this issue. Extensive reading books and journals will also provide fundamental and in-depth comprehension into this particular topic.
Women should be allowed to exercise their moral obligation to utilize their life-giving potential (McBride 2008). Many people argue differently on this subject and try to justify their arguments as to why abortion should be allowed or condemned. As this debate rages on, we should keep it in our mind that women who carry the fetus are human beings not just as a container that carries the fetus. Therefore, the rights of the mother as well as of the unborn child should be upheld. Defenseless and vulnerable beings like fetuses and infants have a right to our protection too (Reiman 1999). Abortion can be considered a medical, legal or moral issue. It is for this reason that this matter should be approached and tackled in a careful and prudent manner. It is important to study this issue regularly and subsequently come up with the right solutions on how to confront matters that arise from this thorny matter.
Many people carry out an abortion for different reasons, of which some are not justified at all. Some argue that abortion should be conducted only if the pregnancy is considered life threatening to the life and health of the mother and the child. A certified health practitioner should perform it in the safest way possible. Every woman who decides to undergo an abortion must have access to the amenities and attention that will enable her to terminate her pregnancy safely. In countries where this practice is condemned and deemed illegal, many women are forced to seek this service in a clandestine manner under conditions that are very medically unsafe and consequently life-threatening. If women are forced to undergo an abortion in fatal and hazardous conditions, it also threatens her right to life (Gupta 2005). Most of the procedures that used to carry out an abortion are extremely dangerous and has resulted in the death of many women. Perpetrators of this vice argue that the women have the right to do anything they want with their bodies.
Although some countries and states have legalized abortion, this issue continues to draw sharp debate whether these decisions should be upheld. Agencies and responsible authorities should continue researching on this topic in order to come up with a conclusive framework whether women should be allowed to have an abortion. Many legal and moral decisions that have been made only give consideration and thought to the woman who is carrying the pregnancy. Without considering the unborn fetus that the woman is carrying or its rights also constitute insensitivity because it has a beating heart.
Many pregnant women in prisons would not like to have children while incarcerated and would want to consider having an abortion. If such institutions refuse to grant the woman her request to obtain an abortion, then it is considered denying her a constitutional right (ABA Journal p564). Proponents of this practice only argue that the women should be given powers to exercise any medical decision that they consider favorable to them. The subjects will always be subject to fiery debates in legislation houses, churches and community forums that do not define if it should be considered a legal, moral or medical issue. Whether an abortion is defined as murder or a health care option shapes the debate, and very likely the outcome as well (Githens & McBride 2013).
Carrying out research on abortion requires a careful approach. Different people have different views on this practice. Churches strictly prohibit and are against abortion. They have gone as far as forming programs that educate their members and congregations facts about abortion which many people might not agree to. Excommunicating members who are alleged to have had an abortion is also common in churches. When interviewing somebody about this subject, one should not take sides but ask open-minded questions. One should not exhibit ideas of being one-sided about this subject. For example, if you interview a church minister and he notices that you are a proponent of this issue, he is probably not provide as much information on this topic. The problems that I might encounter while carrying out my research includes getting people to talk about such a controversial topic. Many people may consider such questions a taboo and not want to speak about. But it will be for me to convince them that the questions that I am going to ask them will be purely for research purposes and will be held in strict confidence.
