The topic for this research is "What does the published research say about the impact of information technology on HR management: opportunities and challenges." This is a topic that helps us understand what good or bad information technology has had on HR management. There are opportunities and challenges that came with the introduction of information technology. People should be able to analyze them well and weigh the options to know if it has done harm or good in the HR management (Torres-Coronas, & Arias-Oliva, 2009).
Many investigations that have been done to search for the impact, challenges, and opportunities have been brought by information technology. The investigations were carried from various firms who had already adopted the technology. Firms who had already started using and stopped along the way were also part of the investigation. This would help in bringing up a clear reason and explanations on information technology. In the research, there were good relations. The firms allowed the research teams carry out their investigations. There was however some contradiction in the team. Some of the team members wanted to investigate some firms while others were against the idea (Torres-Coronas, & Arias-Oliva, 2009). With the help of their project manager and supervisor, they were able to come up with a list of firms to investigate. The gaps were not many. The firms provided contradicting information that led to confusion in the team. This brought in a huge gap of what they were expecting and what they had learned in class. It was also not possible to follow up all information technology procedures in these firms. This brought a lot of assumptions that could lead to wrong results. The next step in this would be for the team to go on higher level of research. This would be to collect secondary data that has been collected primarily from many sources. This will provide non-contradictory and consistent information because it was collected on a large sample.
