The Sufis believe that God can be reached through the different paths, and he lives in the heart of man. Thus, the most important quest of Sufis is to look inward and transform the self to find God. One has to cleanse the heart, get rid of the falls pride and ego, and gradually climb to the next level, so as to get closer to God.
