The word Sufi stands for people with an open heart and these people find the God within them and in others with the help of music. Sufis are in love with God and see fingerprints of God everywhere. The philosophy asks one to listen to the emotions of one's heart and feel the emotions. What makes Sufism so appealing is the simplicity behind. The Sufis are open-minded and believe that God is everywhere. Their aim is to become fully absorbed in God and feel the presence of God by developing their soul. The ultimate source of every heart is God alone is the ultimate source.
Remaining in an everlasting memory of God is food for the soul and a balm for the wounded heart. The Sufi should remain patients and not get carried away by the fear and sorrow or pain. True knowledge can be found only in remembrance of God. Even as the Sufi sings in pain, God, the merciful and compassionate smiles on him, giving him courage. The mystical tradition of Islam seeks complete union with God. Sufis wear loose and coarse clothing and emphasize on a simple and disciplined life.
Sufis remain in love with God at all times and see God in everything and everywhere. They teach tolerance and respect for other religions and advocate the development of the soul. Sufis prefer unity among human beings without any discrimination and believe that by winning hearts of the people, they are winning God in the heart of man. Sufi poetry appeals to all segments of the society, and the use of words and metaphors is easily understood by all. The Sufis believe that God can be reached through the different paths, and he lives in the heart of man. Thus, the most important quest of Sufis is to look inward and transform the self to find God. One has to cleanse the heart, get rid of the falls pride and ego, and gradually climb to the next level, so as to get closer to God.
