Thesis: Use endophyte to enhance plant phytoremediation ability. Research question: What is the effect of endophyte on plant phytoremediation ability? Method: First, prepare twelve glass containers with the same amount of contaminated water; this liquid may include nitrogen, phosphate, and heavy metals. Second, put the same species and identical hydrophyte plants in all containers. Inject pairs of containers with different endophyte from wild plants (e.g., wild willow or poplar or coffee plant), except for in two of them. Every endophyte should be in two containers; the remaining two recipients will serve as the control. Measure the ingredient that remains in the container every day, at the same time, for three weeks. Analyze and interpret the results that have been obtained.

Plant Interaction

Thesis: Effect of invasive species on native species’ genes. Research question: What genetic effect does living with invasive species have on native species? Method: First, simulate a native environment for a fast-growing species in two separate containers. Second, plant twenty-five seeds for this type of vegetation: twenty in one container and five in another; the latter will serve as the control. Then, plant five seeds of one fast-growing invasive species near native species in the container with twenty native plant seeds. Check that both species have sprouted in that ecosystem, and only one in the control. Observe for development of fourth generation of native species in both containers. Use PCR to check the DNA strand from the native plant living with the invasive species. Compare this obtained native plant DNA sequence with that of the control, and that found in the literature. Analyze and interpret the results that have been obtained.
