There are some attributes that are very common amongst the girls of my age, but that need to be abandoned by all girls. This is because some attributes are quite annoying for others. Three of such attributes include superficiality, the importance they pay to their outward appearances rather than to their behavior, and the fact that they are prompted to do several acts by jealousy.
Girls are usually very superficial in nature. For example, they overreact upon hearing the death of someone as if that person was a closed one, even when in fact they may not be feeling any emotion of sadness deep inside their heart. They just over-react in order to demonstrate to others that they are actually feeling very sad. While walking in a market, if they see a cute baby, they start yelling and jumping as if they have seen a mountain of candies. Some girls react like this because they see their friends jumping excitedly and, therefore, not to feel an odd one out, they react in the same manner. In routine conversations, they like to quote expensive brand names in order to show that they are very into the fashion of the day. Some girls are also victims of inferiority complex and, therefore, flaunt their local purse to be an item of a famous brand just to make their position within a group stronger. This turns annoying because they should just represent their true feelings and in every situation, they should only be who they actually are and should stop pretending to be someone else.
The second attribute is also quite closely tied to superficiality, that is, they consider the appearance as the only indicator of a person’s personality, and in this process, they forget to refine and polish the other aspects of personality. They try to stay in vogue by buying the latest outfits, whether they are beyond their easily affordable range. As quoted by Shakespeare in Hamlet, they “paint” their faces in order to look pretty and adorable. However, instead of focusing excessively on their outward appearances, they should also put an emphasis on developing their personality. Girls usually show complete indifference to knowledge about the world of politics, science, technology and other fields when, in fact, such knowledge can become an important factor in defining their personality. The oft-quoted phrase ‘beauty with brains’ sounds more attractive than the phrase ‘beauty with no brains’. When girls go for interviews for high-profile jobs, they are not only expected to look decent but are also expected to have a commendable amount of knowledge. Therefore, girls should start to put less emphasis on their outward appearance even in daily lives.
Lastly, girls of my age are sometimes not sincere with others due to the element of jealousy that overcomes them. This does not happen all the time but when it does, it is indeed very repelling. Good morals demand that a person should be sincere to the other person even if no advantage is accruing to one. However, to misguide someone in order to pull someone’s leg is truly not acceptable. If they see a girl facing a glass and if that girl comes to another for help on any subject, she is usually not guided sincerely. Hence, it is one of the annoying characteristics of the girls of today.
