Good 9/11, Rhetoric, The War On Terror And Communicating Hope Beyond The Longest War Essay Example

The tragic fate that inflicted the US that fatal day of September 11 has left the nation and the world in terror. It was an attack of the most power nation in the world and that signifies the lack of concern and respect for human life as most of the victims are innocent civilians—women and children who had no issues with anyone. The attack heightened the emotions of people. More so, it facilitated for the US’ hegemonic pride. Listening to the speech delivered by Pres. George W. Bush, it ignited and awaken a sense of nationalism and brotherhood among the Americans. Nevertheless, the speech was no less than terrorism itself. Bush abhors terrorism, calling an all-out war against nations and people who conspire the attack on the US. The president delivered a powerful message that no one has the right to inflict terror upon anyone without having the bear the consequence of their action . However, reviewing the context of the president’s message where he said, “Our grief has turned to anger and anger to resolution. Whether we bring our enemies to justice or bring justice to our enemies, justice will be done,” this statement offered a threat that all cost somebody has to pay for what had happened that fatal day.
Fighting terrorism with the same act of terror will not resolve anything. The main contention to this argument is for the US government and the political system that operates in the US to actually see what merits the attack. There should be an aggressive review of policies and political and international relations to be open to the reality that the US has been abusing its power and influence . With all due respect to every American citizen, every war veteran, every soldier who are fighting for this country, they are fighting for a wrong cause. There is no threat to the sovereignty nor the security of the US. What happened during the 7/11 was in retaliation of the abusive use of authority and a fight to end US hegemony. While the medium used by the terrorist groups were outright inhumane, the overall contention was to awaken the Americans of what they are doing to other nations. It is similar to that attack. However, the US is hiding behind that façade that their cause was to bring peace and end terror. Although looking at the effect of this war against terror, the impact is more immense and the victims are not simply isolated within a building, a single district, or an aircraft. The victims of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan are worldwide because the impact has been targeted against all Iraqis, Afghans, Arabs and Muslims being falsely accused as terrorist even when they knew nothing of the issue.
