Practicing the nursing profession is an evolving occupation. Nurses are not only responsible for rendering care services to patient and perform administrative work of health care. I personally believe that nursing research is necessary and beneficial for the profession and this corresponds to the literature that I will cite. Nurses operate in different situations such as in community health divisions, hospital or even in the classroom. Such settings demand not only one form of knowledge but also proven health care practices in order to effectively support quality health results to communities, families and healthcare organization. Continuous research on the nursing profession guarantees valuable data that is based on evidence and quality data collection and patient attention . It is also essential to maintain research work in the field of nursing as it eventually add to the knowledge transfer and exploration of findings and evidences to the entire community of nursing .Compare how nursing research with evidence-based practice improves the nursing profession?
The opinions of the experts matter most on the evident-based practices whereas nursing research entails exploring new knowledge and phenomenon and validates based on thorough investigation. Opinion, in its general form, may have biases and the analysis and further probe on nursing research eliminates that biases and opinion. In the case of nursing research, it is methodical, entails scientific inquiry, testing of hypothesis to address questions and employing thorough method of exploration. Furthermore, the systematic steps of conducting nurse research evolve around values of science that also makes it reliable .

Evidence-based practice rooted from the need to employ a safe and efficient treatment as early as the mid-1800s. Medical experts during the early time explored through statistical analysis, scientific methods and discoveries to compare the difference between ineffective and effective medical treatment. In took few more centuries for medical professionals to take into consideration the impact and significance of empirical evidence to investigate whether a treatment is safe or not. Such exploration led to the promulgation of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act of 1938 to experiment on the safety of a treatment before a manufacture can market their product. Eventually, several medical experts explore more advance testing procedure, however, received opposition from British medical researcher and stressed that most the basis of most medical success is not on the evidences. This incident did not stop medical practitioners from building evidences and continue their rigorous studies and dissemination of practices based on evidence to clinical practices .
Meanwhile, nurse research has long been associated to the first nurse researcher known as Florence Nightingale in the 1850s who concerned herself with mortality of the soldiers during the Crimean War. During practice, she identified notable questions and performed methodical approach in collecting data in order to address her encountered problems. Her initiatives to explore new knowledge to address her bottlenecks during the war progresses to discoveries and transformation in the environment led to discovery of clean water, sufficient diet and ventilation. Nightingale’s initiative is strange, according to medical experts, and explained that the evolution of nursing research started in the United Kingdom when few determined individuals explored the profession .
