The research done in the United State of American indicates that the families headed by women have a high rate of feminization poverty as compared to those headed by the male. The poverty experienced in the women is majorly as a result of job loss due to childbirth. With the birth of a new born comes with new responsibility, this responsibility ends up affecting the production capacity of the women at the job place leading to loss of job. This burden of child care contributes to poverty experienced in the women.
The rate of poverty in women was believed to be reduced with the introduction of the abortion law. This may allow the women to do away with the untimed and unwanted pregnancy that majorly contributed to their loss of job. This intern will reduce the poverty experienced in the women.
Apart from abortion reducing the rate of feminization poverty, it is also as a result of those women with a poor background. Some women get involved in very dangerous practices top earn a living. This practice involves unprotected sex, in the process they become pregnant and are forced to abort. The same also happens to the young girls who are school going. This school going girls have demands for school books, fees and many more. However because of their poor family background they cannot obtain all they need from their parents. As a result of that, they are also involved in to prostitution to acquire their needs. Being young and ignorant they don’t prioritize protecting themselves, therefore they become pregnant in the process. Having determination to continue with their education, they are forced to undergo abortion.
