I agree with the authors that the internet-based applications have improved the marketing efforts of companies and enabled them to implement new ways of communicating with clients. Several companies experience internal and external pressures in order to stay afloat with the integration of digital marketing that is currently popular in social media platforms (Pinheiro, Tiago & Verissimo, 2014, p.703). There are also perceived benefits enjoyed by companies due to the use of digital marketing by strengthening their relationships and interactions with their clients.
It shows that these applications and communication technologies are favoured by the consumers for being informative, convenient, efficient, and provides a wider selection of products (Pinheiro, et al., 2014). Technology has promoted competitive pricing and product diversity to the benefit of the consumers. Social media platforms have given the marketing companies to communicate with the customers because they allow them to participate in giving reviews and comments about a certain product. Most of the consumers are heavily engaged in social media using their phones, Ipads, tablets, laptops and personal computers to be able to provide customer reviews and comments on various products or services. Technology is beneficial not only for the companies but for the consumers as well because their issues are addressed and resolved immediately. In my personal experience, when I am truly pleased about a product like a gadget, a camera or a mobile phone, I give good reviews and recommendations so that the people who read my comments will also enjoy the same experience I went through.
