Classroom space
Classroom arrangement helps in facilitating a comfortable learning environment. A proper classroom arrangement facilitates both the comfort of the teacher and the student. A comfortable workspace enables students to interact and share their learning experiences.
Shelves and furniture placed against wall
When shelving and other furniture are placed against the walls and space is left in the center of the classroom, children are likely to be motivated to share their learning outcomes. The creation of a path at the center of the classroom encourages children to move within the classroom environment. This arrangement also kills distractions that may arise due to activities taking place outside the classroom.
Tables and chairs fill most of the room
A classroom with tables and chairs filling most of the room discourages learner participation in the classroom environment. Such an arrangement reduces learner activities such as discussions which should, otherwise, take place in relaxed classroom environment. It encourages laziness among learners because it hinders the ability of the teacher to supervise the work of the children. When the teacher cannot walk freely around the classroom, learners that need close monitoring cannot cope up with the pace of learning. Such learners tend to lag behind others that grasp what is being taught.
Low furniture creates separate spaces
Ideal classroom spacing should have low furniture. Low furniture implies separate spaces such as block areas and reading areas. Such spaces allow students to move freely in the classroom as they take part in the learning activities. Spacious classroom settings discourage laziness among children. They would want to take part in the learning activities because the monitoring ability of the teacher is guaranteed.
