Strengths and challenges: Enhancing and updating personal knowledge on various technologies; gaining requisite knowledge and skills in low rehabilitation; using available resources and materials for learning about financial issues that affected services at OTA as well as the impact of the economy on these services; increasing knowledge about driving and community mobility; working with adults on assistive devices as well as technology and working with children in the rice bin.
List of goals: The goals of this plan include:
Plan on Achieving each Goal
Increasing Knowledge and Skills on Various OTA Technologies
There are various online free to access resources such as http://www.wovenorthopedics.com. These sources provide discussions regarding available technologies, new technologies and probable future OTA technological developments. I plan to take online courses by the Concord’s Community College that offers short courses of orthopedic technologies. The course costs $2500; I plan to apply for a scholarship grant of $1000, which is offered by the college and the remaining amount I will pay from my personal savings.
Increasing my knowledge of low vision rehabilitation by 80% within 1 year.
Enhancing Knowledge on various Financial Issues affecting service offered by OTA
In order to achieve this goal, I plan various free to access online resources that discuss financial and economic matter that affect the overall services provided by the healthcare sector and how these financial issued affect service offered by OTA. Additionally, I will engage in consultation from my colleagues concerning this issue in order to enhance my understanding. Through various news channels i.e. Televisions and Radio, I will ensure that I am up to date with current information on financial issues that affect the overall health industry and the services offered by OTA. This plan will not cost me any money; however, it will require me to create adequate time for consultation, listening to radio and watching news on television.
This goal would require the use of continuing education courses; ATIA conference seminar 2 days in Orlando, FL; Assistive Technology Industry Association. This plan would cost $1000. This cost will be shared between my company and I on equal basis. This plan is realistic because it would enable me to meet other OT practitioners. Nevertheless, I would require external assistance to meet the cost of flight and hotel. In this regard, I would ask my company to reinforce my individual contribution towards meeting the cost.
