Good Creative Writing About Cultural Persuasion Of Food Choices
The case study regards the nutrition of a 42 year individual of the Hispanic origin. He spends most part of the day in the field as sales representative. Throughout his stay, he prefers coffee, sandwiches and snacks. The individual’s choice of food is influenced by his culture. In the Hispanic culture, breakfast consists of a light meal followed by lunch as the main meal. A light evening meal comprising of snack, coffee and sandwiches is taken before supper is served to end the day’s meals (Caballero, 2005). These meals form important family and social events. The eating pattern of this individual is the cause of his health problems.
Impact of cultural and economic issues on the choice of food
The choice of food has a relationship with an individual’s economic status. Studies reveal that people with relatively high income have more varied and adequate food. On the other hand, people that have little or no income have minimal access to variety of foods. Given the type of work that the individual does, it is deducible that he earns stable income. This is demonstrated by his ability to access fatty foods. Thus, his choice of food has no relationship with his economic status. Instead, the choice of food is primarily influenced by his cultural orientation and the eating habits of Hispanic people.
