Good Crisis Of Arts By Dr. Jamison Essay Example
The TED Conference is a place where famous and talented people from all over the world can gather and simply talk about their discoveries, approaches and concerns. It is a place for informal and friendly speeches, where everybody just shares his or her thoughts. NASA astronaut and scientist Mae Jamison talks about the arts and sciences and her understanding of these concepts. First of all, she talks about the responsibility. According to Frantz Fanon, the aim of any generation is to find its own mission. Modern people should be aware of the fact that things they are doing now will be the discoveries and inventions of the further generations. The science of today is dependent on the concepts of 50s and 60s. Therefore, it is extremely important to think of what people are doing now and their development at the moment.
Further, Dr. Jamison is talking about the arts and science as one thing. The idea of separation of arts and science was introduced many centuries ago, but it should be reconsidered and changed. Both objects of arts and science are just “avatars of human creativity” (TED 2009). Both notions cannot be divided according intuitive/analytical or deconstructive/constructive scale because the art is analytical as well as the science is intuitive sometimes. It depends on the notion of intuitivism. The same can be said about constructive and deconstructive in arts and sciences.
Nowadays, many scientists and many artists are working on the verge of their artists. Thy combine the achievements of the modern science in their artworks and perspectives of arts in their scientific projects. The idea of joining both notions is crucial and vital. Without understanding the necessity of arts and science union people are going to stuck in their beliefs because no improvements can be made without synergy of arts and science.
