Good Culture And Creative Industries Essay Example
Dear _________,
I am writing this letter to show my gratefulness for you and other admission officers for giving me this offer. After watching the video on the CCI webpage, I found you to be a very pleasant and nice individual and a good professional. I am really looking forward to meet you in person now. In fact, I am looking forward to show you that I am worth the offer. The video also helped me to know about the course and London’s culture..
I can't wait to meet you in person. However, I would like to take this opportunity to also highlight two concerns that I have about this the offer. The first concern is the requirement of English language. Although I am not much concerned about it but still I believe it could turn out to be a problem for me. On the other hand, I assume that the cost of the test and pre-sessional course is rather high. To be honest, I do not have an affluent background but my family belongs to the working class. In fact, my parents are working day and night and have been continuously spending every penny they could to support my studies in UK for the last two years. It would rather be a burden for them to pay such a huge amount and I do not wish to burden them once again. It is necessary to highlight that I am doing three different jobs as a photographer assistant, Chinese language teacher, and waiter to alleviate the financial pressure off them. I am also doing so to save money for paying the tuition fee for my postgraduate study (15,000 to 20,000 pounds for overseas students). The cost of test and pre-sessional course as well as living in London may be around 10,000 pounds or even more. I want to once again emphasize that the test costs are out of our budget as my parents are also supporting my younger sister. As she is learning music, it is important for them to buy instruments for her like piano and violoncello which are rather expensive. For this reason too, I don’t want to be a selfish brother and take the money for my education which must be spent on her.
As mentioned earlier, I have gone through the FAQs that point out that it is not necessary for me to get a test or pre-sessional course if I am a non-native speaker. Kindly allow me to mention that I have been learning English for the past four years. I have studied at a renowned Chinese University, the Communication University of China. My teachers taught us using original English teaching materials. I have also learnt about English culture and literature. The additional information is included in my transcript. I would also like to highlight that as this course is designed for students who wish to go abroad to continue their studies, the marking criterion used is equivalent to UK schools standard criterion. I attained 73% overall. However, I also understand that scores are not the sole criterion for the evaluation of an individual’s abilities. Still, I want to notify that last year, I achieved over 60% marks at the CCI School of the University of Portsmouth. I take pride in the fact that my performance is becoming increasingly better with the passage of time.
I want to assure you that I am confident to achieve 2:1 degree or 1:1 if provided an opportunity. I would like you to consider me in taking this offer without English requirement. I would be grateful will pay this trust with my hardworking and good grades. UOC has been my dream school since I was 17. I love creative and culture industries and do not wish to miss this opportunity because of the money issue. Kindly provide me the chance to prove myself. I will not let you down.
