Good Economics Essay Example Community Health
The community health project selected in this study is community-based primary health care that brings with it a number of benefits to the society (Getzen, 2013). Community-based primary health care is essential within societies as it covers a wider range of preventive services necessary within our communities. Through prevention and primary care services, the program ensures that health is promoted within our communities if the program is initiated. The program also ensures there is proper disease prevention through various diagnosis procedures that helps health officials decide the treatment to be administered.
The primary health care that is community-based helps in the management of diseases that are considered chronic (Shi & Signh, 2011). Either illness that is episodic is managed properly through the community health care. Rehabilitation procedures are better administered to addicts through the community health care that is primary to patients. This initiative provides support to the addicts towards their journey to recovery from their addiction. Patients with minimal chances of surviving their chronic condition find the primary health care service vital as it also prepare their immediate family for the after-death life. The patient is also prepared in a proper way for the demise that reduces the psychological torture associated with such illnesses.
The rationale for choosing this initiative is primarily pegged on its immediate availability as it brings health care services closer to the community (Getzen, 2013). Patients can access health care services from the comfort of their homes rather than look for it from hospitals. The services are also affordable as they cost less which most community members can easily afford. Primary community health care services can also be provided by combining a number of services offered by different health professional. The health care services provide a rich blend that can easily be obtained since most of the providers are readily available at our health centers.
