One of the current events in the financial scene is the release of 2015 first quarter financial reports by various companies. Primarily, these reports show the financial performance of the companies for the three months of January, February and March in 2015. Depending on the particular financial calendar of a company, these reports may be for Quarter 1, 2, 3 or 4.
Intel Corp is one such company that is expected to also release earnings for its Quarter 1 report on Tuesday, 13th April 2015. The company had stated earlier in March that it expects a reduction in revenue for the first quarter compared to its earnings in the previous year’s fourth quarter (Ciaccia, 2015). On the other hand, the company expects to maintain its margins. The symbol for Intel Corp is INTC as was retrieved from MSN Money website (MSN, 2015).
The earnings report is not the only big event for the company being reported on Bloomberg. Intel Corp is reported to be in talks to acquire Altera Corp at a reported price of $54 per share (Clark, 2015). In addition, the company has also hit financial news headlines for reporting a change in structure of its financial reports beginning with the first quarter report of 2015. The company had announced that it would merge its PC and Mobiles financial performance in its reports.
The two major activities by Intel Corp have brought about mixed performance by the company stock in the financial markets. Analysts had made forecasts of a slump in Intel Corp’s stock prices after the statement in March. However, the takeover has raised hope for speculating investors and share prices are seen to be rising (King and Sutherland, 2015). According to MSN website, the stock price at the close of market trading on Monday, 13th April 2015 was at $31.73 (MSN, 2015).
