Organizational Structure Design
Organizations have different organizational designs that guide their daily operations. Organizational design refers to a formal and guided process for the integration of information, people, and technology if an organization. Organizational design is useful for the matching of the form of an organization as closely as possible to the aims or targets that the organization seeks to attain. Through the process of organizational design, organizations perform actions aimed to improve the probabilities that the collective efforts of all the members of that organization will be successful. Organizational design is like the manufacturing process in the sense that it encompasses the combination of integration and differentiation of the operations of the organization in response to the degree of uncertainties in the external environment. Nevertheless, it is unlike the manufacturing process because it slightly encompasses processing (Lima, Mataix, and Lezana 26).
The effects of calculated and deliberate organizational change on informal networks and structures can be predicted through the integration of technology into the organizational structures and networks. The integration of technology allows for the evaluation of the probable impacts of these organizational changes on the informal structures and networks. That is; technological integration will allow for the examination of the extent of the probable effects on the organization, especially through research, application and forecasting. Mitigation of unanticipated and unintended consequences of organizational redesign can involve organizational differentiation. That is, the subdivision of the departmental or functional units in the organization will allow each of the units to concentrate on a specific aspect such as the mitigation programs in the organization’s operations. As such, there is an opportunity for diversified views concerning the mitigation proposals from these different units through accountability.
