According to McCrae and Costa's Five-Factor Model of Personality, there are five factors of personality. They are namely neuroticism, extroversion-introversion, conscientiousness, agreeableness, and openness. This became very consensual for every psychologist that these factors could mathematically explain a person’s personality. However, research is still ongoing. For the meantime the model is the basis for factors in personality.
As for this report, extroversion is chosen to be given an example. However before that we need to define what is extroversion first. Extroversion has been commonly observed by many psychologists for the past centuries. It was stated in the five factor model as well as the E-IN models. Extroversion refers to a characteristic that a person has taken a great interest in sharing to others and concerns about external events. It was also defined as social adaptability of the individual. The factor considers a person to have good socializing skills. The opposite of this factor is called introversion.
Now, giving examples about this factor would make things clearer. The people in the scriptures are full of values and also have various personalities. Taking into account extroversion as a based factor, the person that has it in the Bible is most probably Jesus.
Jesus as the messiah has been very socially adaptable, from the gamblers, the Pharisees, the prostitute and every kind of person in the bible was talked by Jesus. He was also known to have told his parables to many people along with his 12 disciples. More importantly Jesus is very personal in interacting with people. Thus, it adds up to his concern to those individuals.
On the other hand, Jonah is a prophet of God in the Old Testament. He was commanded to go to Nineveh and preach the message of Repentance from God. However, Jonah did not go right away, instead he head to another town. Basing from his actions, he did not have enough courage to open to people and approach them with highly adaptable socializing skills. This could be also seen right after he preached in the city (which was after he was spitted out by the whale), he just watched from a far distance if the city would experience the wrath of God. Jonah evidently lacks a bit of extroversion.
