Research Areas

Two research areas emerge as of particular interest (at least to author): Internet and Virtual Psychology and Motivation & Goal Setting. Internet and Virtual Psychology is a recent, evolving discipline about psychological implications of human-machine interaction mediated by web communications. The discipline is, indeed, a nascent one informed by a broad range of conventional and emerging disciplines including, for example, online dating, virtual group management and videoconference-mediated negotiations. Further, Internet and Virtual Psychology is projected for exponential growth given increasing dependency on virtual communications in day-to-day activities. Interestingly, mobile communications are also expected to grown in significance as a major research area in Internet and Virtual Psychology. The Motivation & Goal Setting is a comparatively more established research area. Mainly, Motivation & Goal Setting is concerned about motivational and goal-setting methods set (or more recently negotiated) by staff in an organizational context. This research area has a particular significance during low morale periods, crises and/or high turnovers.
