The changing technology affects the human resource departments because of the new gadgets in place and other technological devices like computers and the internet. The human resource department has a task in incorporating people, software and equipment to increase productivity. People are the key factor in the development of an organization but because of the improvement in technology the people need other automated devices to perform their duties competitively. The quick rate of change is forcing many sectors to change and adhere to the changes that occur in the environment. The human resource department is greatly affected by the change in the environment. The department is crucial to any organization because it organizes and is responsible for the employees of the organization (Bernardin & Russell 5).
The human resource department sector has five main goals in the organization and when the goals are accomplished the organization achieves its objectives. The human resource department ensures that the organization has competent employees who are capable of delivering according to the organization’s expectation. The department has a goal to attract employees to the organization, after attracting them the department must know how to retain the employees. The hiring process is another key task for the human resource department, and it determines how best to get quality employees. After hiring the employees need motivation and training from time to time. The goals are important in the changing environment. Bernardin & Russell (2013) articulated in their book that the changing trends in the human resource management are very important to any organization that is looking for prosperity.
The topic “Technological changes, challenges and opportunities” shows a relationship between the current things happening in the world and the human resource department. It is evident that the world looks forward to having a competitive environment among all the sectors where efficiency is the crucial thing. Technological changes have impacted the human resource management department since the department has adopted new methods of registering and keeping the records of the employees. It is definite that technology has its challenges in the human resource department since it is hard to integrate all the technological advancement in an organization. Although, there are challenges in incorporating the new changes in technology, the opportunities outnumber the challenges. For instance, communication can be only better with the new technology compared to the ancient times.
The book is very helpful in the human resource department and to the organization. All the aspects discussed in the book show the modern human resource department that is full of technological advancements. The book gives strategies that a human resource manager can use to make the organization better and avoid unnecessary conflicts. According to the authors of the book, the changes and trends in the business environment should contribute to making the working environment better.
In conclusion, organizations applying the principles discussed in the book reduce the chances of running into a crisis with the human resource. Application of technology in the human resource department is the current event that the book emphasizes on to increase efficiency and increase productivity in the organization. The organizations have implemented enterprise resource management systems that are automated to manage the employees in the organizations. The principles of the book recommend the management to use the most recent way of management styles by applying technological advancements.
