Attraction is a word that is widely used to put across how one feels about something or someone. An individual or something must have a feature and the capability to attract in order to make the word attraction to be very applicable. The word symbolically mean the capability of attracting, this refers to the charming ability of an individual, a place, or an event that is intended to entice masses. Connotatively, other words like chemistry, allure, fascination, enticement, invitation can be used in place of the word attraction. All this words are used when an individual’s attention is drawn. The word attraction normally is emotive since it denotes ones strong feelings of being drawn towards something or someone in particular. This usually between two individuals that are compatible. The feeling is usually referred to as love, which do results into the emotional connections between people. The word attraction can be used to refer to sexual orientation, this do refer to the gender identity.it could as well be used to refer to romantic orientation.
Attraction affects society in the sense that we do look every individual at a face value as others view as the same. The facial look really affects various outcomes in the society. This range from the selection of the mate choices, hiring decisions at a workplace, relationships that are platonic and generally social exchange decisions in a society. There are the facial quality that influence the judgments on the level of attraction an individual has. These range from skin color, texture, personality, the sexually shapes and figures and symmetry. All this mentioned can led to preference of one individual over the other and this can affect society in the sense that the face value of an individual can led to either wright or wrong conclusions about an individual. This is because a glance at ones face, much information and judgments can be made on the individual’s characters and behaviors or even background information can be assumed.(Barbara Jo, pg 68).The concept of attraction dates back to centuries, being explained that our thoughts do portray our reality. It is manifested in diverse religions. It is evident in the Hinduism and the Buddhism religion.
Both the Hindus and the Buddha believed in the word karma that meant action. This was used to explain why certain inequalities were experienced in the lives of human beings. This inequalities resulted from the either the past or the present actions of human beings. This explained why certain occurrences are experience in human life. This occurrences could either be positive or negative depending on the initial action that is attracting the results. So if at all the initial actions are bad, bad results will be attracted and if the initial actions are good, good results will be attracted. This concept of attraction has led has also acquired from the vibration law of the Buddhist. They believe that thoughts of an individual transmits vibrations. They as well believe that mind contents are also in the form of vibration. The positive thoughts therefore vibrate at very high frequencies compared to the negative thoughts and the frequency of each thought is transmitted back at the same frequency that it was initially transmitted with and this relates to the Buddhist believe in the Dharma. That explained that if you think about hatred it attracts bad happenings to you and therefore make you miserable. (Rich pg. 24).
According to the philosopher Plato, ``It would seem, Adeimemantus, that the direction in which education starts a man, will determine his future life. Does not always attract like?’’ Plato meet that someone getting educated in one line of study will tend to interact most and associate with people in his similar area of study, for instance, engineers will tend to interact mostly by engineers while doctors will associate with doctors. Students interact mostly by students who are within their inner circle of study. This could also be explained by the social classes. Middle class individuals interact with middle class fellows while the royals interact with the royals as this are the people they cross paths with mostly.
Attraction grows as a result of proximity to each other. In turn people tend to develop a liking feeling towards those individuals who show that exact feeling to them. In the society there are usually gaps that exist among people. This could result from the social class, educational background of people, race, or even background. This causes a separation among individuals. In a society there exist the low income earners, middle class and the royals. This three distinct classes interact at their levels. This led to discrimination from one class to the either. The discrimination effect could result into low self-esteem, depression or even isolation of a given class of people most so the ones that are discriminated due to one reason or the other. This is because when someone thinks that he/she can figure out what is expected from you the spell is always broken. (Barbara Jo, pg. 68)
The concept of attraction is greatly related to religion in that, every human being is created in the image of God and therefore all human beings represent God. This is evident when it’s stated in the biblical that when you do well, good will follow and when evil is done evil follows. This depicts the level to which good attracts good and evil attracts evil. Religious beliefs govern a society and ensure that there is a well existence of everyone in a society and the virtue of life is protected and respected. The concept of attraction sees to it that human beings respects life and do to others what they can wish upon themselves for instance biblically its stated that you should love your neighbor as you love yourself. This causes everyone do be his/her brother’s keeper.
The concepts applies to individuals different classes of individuals in a society, it applies to dating partners as well. Because this are the major points that ridge of socialization dominates. For instance, people associate and come together depending on what they are sharing in common. Many students in the learning institution tend to get their partners from the same school and faculty where they are studying since that is where they spend their time mostly and therefore relate most of the time. This therefore would tend to place people in cocoons thereby discriminating them from others. Mostly culture results into big discrimination since it dictates how people behave and tend to relate only with the people they share culture with, (Niedersachs, pg. 41).
The attraction concept really influences human behavior by governing people’s ethics and morals in a society. Since all actions initiate from thought and the law states that thoughts are vibrations that are transmitted and received back at the same frequencies of transmission, therefore, any level of either bad or good thought gets back to the initial person that is thinking. Any thought of anger attracts miserable action to the person who is thinking and any good though result into good results to the person who is thinking. This governs morals of society by causing everyone to think positive so that positive results can be attracted.
The concept of attraction has evolved. According to David Hume, `` is no quality in things themselves: that the quality exists in the mind that contemplates them and each mind perceives different beauty.’’ This has shown that taste and preference varies from one individual to the other. The levels of attractiveness and the components that make one thing attractive differ from one person viewing it to the other person. So whatever one considers attractive might not be attractive to the other person, this has made people make independent decisions on who they find attractive and would like to associate with. Most so on issues pertaining to love, people tend to base their decisions on the physical attractiveness of the partners. The perceptions of the individuals on their physical attractiveness also plays major role.
``Beauty lies on the eye of the beholder.’’ This was a quote by Plato to justify that the level of beauty lies with every man’s judgment, therefore, what one considers attractive could not be attractive to the other person.
The concept is currently in use by allowing every individual to think freely knowing that he/she lives by the consequences of the thoughts and decisions that he/she makes. This has really been promoted by the modern education as it sharpens individuals to make informed decisions knowing that they are fully liable for the results of their decisions. (Mitterer, pg.21)
This concept relates to my daily experiences and motivation. Because any moment I need something, I think about it, by thinking about it, get motivated and work towards making my thoughts come true .Since I believe that if I can figure it out in my mind then I can really make it happen, I therefore get the driving force of achieving.
